Carlin has confirmed Nicolai Kjaergaard as the first driver in their 2018 BRDC British Formula Three line-up. Joining reigning champions Carlin after a year racing in the series in 2017, Danish driver Kjaergaard will be out on track in his Tatuus-Cosworth car shortly with a busy pre-season test programme to look forward to ahead of the first round of Formula Three racing action which gets underway at the end of March at Oulton Park.

18-year-old Kjaergaard already has two years of single seat experience under his belt following a season racing in the F4 British Championship in 2016 which was followed by his debut season in the BRDC British Formula Three Championship last year. Kjaergaard enjoyed a solid 2017 showing, securing strong top ten finishes throughout the course of the eight-round championship. Prior to this, Kjaergaard raced karts in the CIK-FIA Euro KF before making the move to single seaters.

Kjaergaard will be on track to make the most of pre-season testing over the course of the coming months as he looks ahead to the eight-round series which takes in legendary tracks such as Spa-Francorchamps, the Danish driver’s favourite circuit, and the home of the British Grand Prix, Silverstone.

Kjaergaard said of the upcoming season, “I definitely feel excted to be joining Carlin; the team won the championship last year, in fact finished first and second, so hopefully I can go out and be a challenger for the championship this year, this is the goal for me and the team.  I feel like it’s a step up in terms of expectations both from myself and the people around me.  Testing so far has been good and the guys in the team have been great; very helpful and have made me feel really welcome so it’s been easy for me to settle in and focus on performance.”

The 2018 BRDC British F3 will get underway the 31st of March in Oulton Park.
