The F1 Brazil GP was not just fun on track but even in terms of statistics and information with the victory for Max Verstappen and first-time podium finishers.

The F1 Brazil GP at Interlagos went berserk with the two safety car periods as the collision between the Ferrari drivers Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc changed the whole order along with the retirement of Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas.

Red Bull Racing’s Verstappen took control to win the race as Toro Rosso’s Pierre Gasly made the most of another collision between Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton and Red Bull’s Alexander Albon to end up second from the British racer in a drag-race like finish.

Hamilton was penalised which helped McLaren’s Carlos Sainz to be on the podium ahead of the Alfa Romeo Racing’s Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi with Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo in sixth. Post-penalty, Hamilton slotted in seventh.

The Top 10 then had McLaren’s Lando Norris in eighth, Racing Point’s Sergio Perez ninth and Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat 10th. Here’s the list of the statistics and information for F1 Brazil GP:

  • Verstappen scored his career eighth win, third in 2019 F1 season and first Brazil GP.
  • It is also first time that Verstappen has won a race from pole. It is his 30th career F1 podium finish. He scored his second pole as well.
  • Red Bull scored its 62nd F1 win, third in 2019 and fifth Brazil GP as it went one better than Mercedes.
  • Honda registered its 72nd F1 win, third in 2019 and in the hybrid era as well.
  • Gasly scored his first career F1 podium in second, which was same for Sainz in third albeit with the help of Hamilton’s penalty. It is the first, first-time double podium finishers at the same time since 1994 German GP where Olivier Panis and Eric Bernard scored theirs.
  • The Brazil GP podium for Gasly helped to be back in sixth in the drivers’ standings with 95 points which is same as Sainz.
  • It is first Honda 1-2 since 1991 Japanese GP but first Honda 1-2 with two different teams since 1987 Italian GP.
  • Sainz achieved the 100th F1 podium for a Spanish driver as he gained the most places from 20th to third, where he never set a lap time in qualifying. Sainz also leads the standings with most races before first podium with 101 under his belt, the next best is Martin Brundle with 91.
  • It is first podium for McLaren since the 2014 Australian GP, the first as well with Renault, as Toro Rosso had its second podium of 2019, while third overall.
  • Interestingly, all the three podiums for Toro Rosso has its drivers step on different position with Vettel on top, Gasly in second and Kvyat third. The team has 83 points in all as they now have bettered their previous best of 67 in 2015 with one race to go.
  • With the podium, McLaren sealed fourth place in the constructors’ championship with the Top 4 places now decided in the standings.
  • It is the second time that Red Bull’s current and former drivers have finished on podium together – both coming this year itself. It is also the youngest podium at 23 years, 8 months and 13 days with the previous youngest came in 2008 Italian GP when Vettel won.
  • It is first time that no Mercedes or Ferrari-powered cars were on the podium since the 2013 United States GP where Red Bull and Lotus occupied the podium.
  • Raikkonen ended his seven non-points finish record with a fourth place as Giovinazzi registered his F1 career best result.
  • It is Alfa Romeo’s best team result since the 1951 Spanish GP.
  • Raikkonen tied with Fernando Alonso with 314 entries and 311 starts in Brazil GP. Only Rubens Barrichello is ahead on the list.
  • Hamilton continued his consecutive points finish streak with 32 races now since the 2018 British GP. He has to score one more to equal his own record and two to better.
  • Valtteri Bottas was the sole to end up as non-classified as despite the non-finish for Ferrari drivers, they were still classified. The last time that both Ferrari drivers failed to finish as proper was the 2017 Singapore GP.
  • Bottas set the fastest lap but he will not get the bonus point as not only he did not finish inside the Top 10 but he failed to finish the race.
  • Albon could have had his first podium had he not been involved in a collision in the final laps. It dropped him to eighth in the drivers’ standings and ended his points streak.
  • Ricciardo, Robert Kubica, Nico Hulkenberg and Hamilton were all given penalty points. Ricciardo has seven in all, Kubica has two, Hulkenberg one and Hamilton three
