Sam Bird took his second consecutive pole position at the Italian GP. The Briton has four points and will start tomorrow from the first position ahead of Leimer and Palmer in one equalized rating. Dani Clos has achieved an excellent seventh place, on the other hand Canamasas had a spin ten minutes before the session ended so closes the grid.

The qualifying started with about five quiet minutes with the drivers out and doing installation laps. Minutes later all drivers have made one or two attempts with Palmer having provisionally the pole ahead of an incredible Clos, Calado, Dilmman and Bird. When there were about twenty minutes left, Sergio Canamasas spun on the last corner which left him stuck in the gravel, putting an end to his session. With the car retired after about two minutes of the top of Sergio, Ghirelli had a violent spin on the Dish in the absence of fourteen minutes, this caused the red flag, so that the commissioners could clean the track.
After five minutes, the green flag fell back into the circuit of Monza and all except the two injured drivers went out on track. Palmer defended the pole but at first looked like Bird and then Leimer stood in front of him. Clos despite the large turn went down a bit to seventh being surpassed by Ericsson, Dilmann and Coletti. With improved positions like that no one got better results and the qualifiying ended..
New pole for Sam Bird, who must defend the first position with Leimer and Palmer. Behind will start Ericsson and Dillmann, with Coletti who has not moved from sixth place, and the current leader will have to overtake if he doesn’t want to see Bird or Leimer overtaking him in the standings. Dani Clos has done a magnificent seventh place ahead of Calado, Rosenzweig, Trummer, Richelmi and Felipe Nasr which goes twelfth. The Brazilian, second in the world championship, should look forward in the race tomorrow if he wants to keep fighting for the championship. To finish, the rugged Canamasas will start in the last place on the grid. Tomorrow at 15:40 h will take place the first GP2 race at Monza.
