After his teammate in the first free-practice session, Sam Bird was fastest of the second free-practice session ahead of Rosenqvist and Di Grassi who crashed in the last minutes of the session. The session was red flagged by Loic Duval mid-session.
The weather conditions had not changed much in between free-practice sessions but it looked more threatening than earlier.
Both Andretti went on track first for the thirty-minute-long session. After the shortened first session, drivers went straight away for 200kw laps. Lucas Di Grassi went fastest in the first 200kw ahead of both Renault e.dams. Despite a very fast lap, Piquet broke one of his winglets on a kerb.
Adam Carroll was the reason of the first yellow flag with a spin at turn 5, Sam Bird also spun at the exact same place a few minutes later. Halfway through the session, Felix Rosenqvist went for a 200kw lap but at the same time, Loic Duval lost his front left wheel which caused a red flag. Rosenqvist was leading from di Grassi and Buemi.
With eight minutes to go, the session restarted with everyone on track except Duval and Carroll but Maro Engel pulled over at the outside of turn 1 for a few of seconds. Like in the first stages of the session, everyone went for 200kw laps but Di Grassi broke his front wing on turn 4 and was forced to back off, which ruined all hopes for a real 200kw lap except for Bird who claimed fastest time even slowing down under the yellow flags.
When the chequered flag came out, Sam Bird was still leading from Rosenqvist and Di Grassi. Buemi, Frijns, Piquet, Turvey, Vergne, Prost and Engel completed a top ten covered by less than 0.8s.
