Marco Bezzecchi has confirmed a step to MotoGP in 2022 with Aramco Racing VR46 outfit alongside Luca Marini.

While the official announcement is still to be made, Bezzecchi is set to graduate to MotoGP in 2022 with Aramco Racing VR46 from Moto2 alongside his stablemate Marini. His current Sky Racing boss – Pablo Nieto – who will move up too, has confirmed the news.

“Now we are here in this GP, next week we will have the test for MotoGP and like everyone knows, we will do the test with Luca Marini and Marco Bezzecchi,” said Nieto to MotoGP website. “Yes, we have to do it because next week we will go to Jerez and everyone knows, Marco will be Luca’s teammate.”

The team is slated to use the Ducati bikes for next year having taken over the Avintia outfit. Even though they announced it months ago, the deal with Aramco seemingly is taking longer than expected as per the latest reports.

It could be the reason for the delay in confirming Bezzecchi alongside Marini. The duo are to take part in the Jerez test though following the end of this weekend’s Valencia MotoGP race. In fact, the Moto2 rider confirmed the news of him stepping up.

“I’ll be MotoGP rider for the VR46 team, it will be very good,” said Bezzecchi to MotoGP website. “I am very happy, it is a dream come true. At the end, everyone who ride motorcycle one day dream of being a MotoGP rider, so for me, it is something incredible. Also, to recieve this news on my birthday, it is all the more incredible but can’t wait to ride the bike.

“My teammate going to be Luca like last year, I have very good relation with him. It will be strange because at the end, to learn to go fast on MotoGP will be very-very difficult. With Luca we can work well, also last year, I made an incredible step with him, maybe it is something that I miss this year, to have a such a good teammate to work since the beginning. I am very excited, also to make my debut with Italian bike, all very good and very happ,” summed up Bezzecchi.
