A perfect day today for Honda in 2016 Dakar edition. Joan Barreda, Kevin Benavides and Paulo Gonçalves were the fastest of today’s special. Barreda now is back in the lead of the race with 14 seconds of distance with Svitko.

Today’s stage started in MotoGP track of Termas de Rio Hondo and finished in Jujuy, with 314 kilometers of stage.

Last night, the stewards penalized 75 pilots because they were too fast in a section of 50 km/h. Two of these riders are Rubén Faria and Stefan Svitko who were on third and fourth in the standings. Both received a sanction of 1 minute.

The today special started also under uncertain weather conditions, but it doesn’t matter to Joan Barreda who was the fastest today, leading the Honda one-two-three with Kevin Benavides and Paulo Gonçalves.

Barreda now is back at the top of the standings with 14 seconds ahead of Svitko and 48 from Benavides. Paulo Gonçalves takes fourth place as Alain Duclos continues on top 5 with his Catalan-French bike Sherco.

Toby Price is down to 10th, 5 minutes behind the leaders.
