Red Bull duo of Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen headed FP2 of F1 Azerbaijan GP, with Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz third from Charles Leclerc.

Red Bull kept their nose ahead in F1 Azerbaijan GP FP2 session, with Perez (1m42.115s) ending up the quickest from teammate Verstappen (1m42.216s), as they led Ferrari’s Sainz (1m42.243s) and Leclerc (1m42.436s) to round out the first two rows.

Sainz had a clean run again, but Leclerc rammed into the barrier at Turn 15 after locking-up in the right-hand corner. The Monegasque managed to reverse back and make it into the pits. Post the checks from the team, he was able to continue on.

AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly (1m42.534s) slotted in fifth in another good showing, with Alpine’s Fernando Alonso (1m42.693s) doing well in sixth from Alfa Romeo’s Antonio Giovinazzi (1m42.941s) – all finishing ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris (1m43.018s).

The Top 10 was rounded out by Alpine’s Esteban Ocon (1m43.020s) and AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda (1m43.130s), with the likes of Norris and the Japanese driver having off moments. Missing out on a Top 10 was Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton (1m43.156s) in 11th.

Both he and teammate Valtteri Bottas struggled with tyre warm-up and were also hampered by yellow and red flag. While Hamilton managed a respectable 11th, the Finn was only 16th after they were not able to improve on subsequent laps.

Alfa Romeo’s Kimi Raikkonen was 12th from McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo, with Aston Martin duo Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel in 14th and 15th from Bottas. Both the German and the Finn had multiple offs, especially at Turn 1 right-hander.

Williams’ George Russell was 17th from Haas pair of Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher, where the latter had an oil leak issue early on. The Russian, meanwhile, had Turn 1 moment too, as Williams’ Nicholas Latifi caused a red flag after engine issue.
