Austin Cindric: Richmond was the ‘boost’ we needed

Last Saturday, Team Penske had a great night at Richmond Raceway, where Joey Logano achieved victory and Austin Cindric finished in an admirable third place.

Cindric needed to show good performance after finishing 29th at Iowa and not having achieved a top-10 since May. With his car number 2 in a delicate position in the Chase standings, ranked 16th, any mistake was unacceptable. The driver demonstrated his worth and that of the team.

After the race, Cindric commented: «This has been the boost this team needed. The last weeks and months have been tough. We have been suffering in silence and having successes in the background similarly. Tonight was an opportunity to remember who we are and execute a good race.»

Additionally, Cindric emphasized teamwork, highlighting the help from Logano and Ryan Blaney: «I couldn’t ask for better teammates. It’s very exciting to work with them and learn from them. Richmond is a track where I know Logano could finish in the top five, even in a rental car.»

With this third place, Cindric moved up to 15th position in the overall standings, surpassing Shane van Gisbergen and placing his vehicle number 97 in the qualifying zone.

The next NASCAR challenge will take place in New Hampshire next weekend, where the competition for qualifying positions in the Chase remains intense.
