For the third round of the season, DTM drivers settle at Lausitzring for the week-end. Ahead of the first qualifying session, two free-practice sessions took place which saw Lucas Auer being the fastest of the first one and Nico Müller being the fastest of the second one.

Lucas Auer was the fastest on the first day of free-practice with a 1:17.587. Only Nico Müller could get under the 1:17 bar was well but with a 0.4s gap to Auer. Edoardo Mortara ended up third with a 1:18.044 laptime. Unlike the two first rounds, BMW don’t seem to be able to catch the pace of Audi and Mercedes as the best BMW is Tom Blomqvist in P13. Ekström, Molina, Vietoris, Green, Götz, Rockenfeller and Paffet completed the top 10 of FP1.

In FP2 we have the same top 2 in a different order as this time, Müller’s Audi went faster than Auer’s Mercedes for only 0.009s. Times are indeed very tight as the top 21 stand in 0.742s. Ekström went P3 ahead of Vietoris, Molina, Rockenfeller, Ocon, Paffet, Juncadella and Wittmann, the only BMW in the top 10.
