Aston Martin confirmed of a fire incident in their Brackley facility on Wednesday night, but it was brought under control soon.

Late last night, a Twitter handle mentioned about fire brigades heading to Aston Martin’s facility in Brackley for an incident which was not clear to the person. They mentioned about fire trucks going into the facility and a good number of them.

Post the incident, Aston Martin took to social media to confirm of a small fire at their Brackley base housing the wind tunnel. At the same time, the team also confirmed to FormulaRapida.net about the incident and that it was doused fairly quickly.

“There was a small fire in the extraction system of our wind tunnel, swiftly extinguished,” stated the spokesperson of Aston Martin. Some people on social media mistook the Brackley facility to be of Mercedes since they are based there but it isn’t the case.

A spokesperson of Mercedes clarified to FormulaRapida.net that it is a separate facility at Brackley and is not attached to the German F1 outfit’s base. Aston Martin’s original headquarter is situation near the Silverstone circuit in Northampton.

Elsewhere, Williams noted of a COVID-19 positive for its CEO Jost Capito ahead of the Jeddah weekend. As a result of it, he will not be present for the Saudi Arabia GP and isolate himself. This is the second instance for him after he had to isolate due to Kimi Raikkonen’s positive test back in September.

“Williams Racing can confirm that CEO and Team Principal Jost Capito has tested positive for COVID-19 prior to travelling to Jeddah for this weekend’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix,” stated a statement from the team.

“Jost is now following UK national health authority guidelines. There has been no wider impact on Williams Racing personnel and the team will continue to operate trackside as planned.”
