After what he calls “the most uncertain winter of his career”, Anthoine Hubert is able to confirm he will race in the European championship of Formula 3 with Van Amersfoort Racing.

The 19-year-old French driver began his racing career in 2013 in the French F4 championship, of which he claimed the championship. In 2014, he graduated to Formula Renault 2.0 with Tech One, claimed the rookie championship in 2014 and ended 5th overall in 2015 with 2 victories and 7 podiums.

“I followed the results of Van Amersfoort Racing F3 for many years and I must say I was impressed by their recent results with the rookies Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc. I am obviously very motivated and excited to join this legendary team of F3 and I want to thank all the staff for giving me confidence. And now: let’s get to work!”

In 2016, Hubert will race in the FIA European Formula 3 championship with Dutch squad Van Amersfoort Racing who claimed the rookie championship last year with Charles Leclerc and who raised Max Verstappen to F1. Team owner Frits Van Amersfoort comments:

“We were following the progress of Anthoine for quite some time. We became more and more impressed by his skills and results. Especially after his clean sweep with two pole positions and two victories in the challenging streets of Pau during a guest appearance in Formula Renault ALPS. We decided to invite Anthoine for a test in our simulator and he did a very solid job. We are very happy to add him to our 2016 F3 squad. Anthoine is the sort of driver who could become one of the big surprises.”

Hubert completes the Formula 3 line-up of Van Amersfoort with Callum Ilott, and rookies Harrison Newey and Pedro Piquet.
