Alfa Romeo hosted a farewell event for Kimi Raikkonen at its Hinwil F1 base in Switzerland as the Finn gears up for the final two races.

With less time at hand to do anything post the end of the 2021 F1 season, Alfa Romeo arranged for a farewell event for Raikkonen on Friday evening at Sauber’s Hinwil base in Switzerland. It was attended by all of the Finn’s family.

The HQ was decorated with photos of Raikkonen, showcasing the brightest moments from his F1 career. While the full details of the evening has not been made public, but the snippets does show that it reflected on some high moments with speech too.

Lawrence Barretto was the host for the evening as he noted on his social media, while Raikkonen left a small message for the team on his Instagram too. “Thank you everyone for a night to remember. Thank you everyone for all the years together. Thank you for your hard work. Thank you for all the memories. You are good people. Sincerely Kimi,” he wrote.

Having made his debut in 2001 with Sauber, Raikkonen will end his F1 career with the same time after the races in Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi. He will leave the sport with 353 entries in all and 349 starts from those – the highest for both as things stand. Although, Fernando Alonso is likely to break both the records in 2022.
