The leader of the Championship gets the victory in Spa after a great battle with Richie Stanaway.
The race started with the track half damp, half dry. However, there was a clean start. The only incident was Balthasar’s spin in the formation lap, which left him out of the race.
Alex Lynn kept the lead ahead of Stanaway and Fontana. Dean Stoneman, race winner yesterday, tried to overtake Dino Zamparelli in turn 1 for P7, but he ran a bit wide and lost his position with Bernstorff. Zamparelli caught Varhaug quite soon, but wasn’t able to get through him until lap 8, when Varhaug locked up in La Source. He was then overtaken by Bernstorff, who would overtake Zamparelli with 2 laps left.
Meanwhile, the fight for the lead was as exciting as in the back. Alex Lynn made a mistake in Les Combes which allowed Stanaway, who had remained very close to Lynn during all the race, to get through him. Lynn didn’t give up and took back his position a couple of corners later. The battle went on for some more laps but Stanaway wasn’t able to make it and Lynn got the victory, which helps him reinforce his lead in the Championship.
