After spending pre-season testing with Jaguar, British driver Alex Lyn joins DS Virgin as their development driver.

Alex Lynn had spent a few successful years in single-seaters, joining the Red Bull junior team, winning the Macau Grand Prix and the 2014 GP3 Series championship. He joined Williams in 2015 but after disappointing GP2 seasons, he announced that it was his last season in junior series.

Lynn got his first taste of Formula E in summer 2016 when he tested for Jaguar alongside fellow GP2 driver Mitch Evans who eventually got the seat. Nevertheless, Lynn still kept his chances to enter the championship by joining DS Virgin as a reserve and development driver. He comments:

“Formula E is arguably the most competitive motor racing championship in the world, with the highest calibre of drivers. As a driver I want to be competing in the top series, which is why I’ve been trying so hard to get into Formula E, and ‘DS Virgin was my first choice. So I’m delighted to have signed a multi year deal with DS Virgin Racing!”

Alex Tai, DS Virgin team principal, adds:

“I’m delighted we have acquired a driver of the calibre and potential of Alex Lynn. It is a testament to the strength of Formula E that we’re now attracting drivers like Alex and it speaks volumes that Alex has chosen DS Virgin Racing as his team. We’re excited to see what he’s capable of in our car.”

This should not be Lynn’s only occupation for the 2017 season as he is set to join WEC in LMP2.
