Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas ended up on top on Day 3 to end the 2020 F1 pre-season test ahead of Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen at Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona.
It was a smooth end to the 2020 F1 pre-season test at Barcelona as Mercedes’ Bottas ended up on top with a 1m16.196s on the C5 compound as Red Bull’s Verstappen (1m16.269s, C4) was second and Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo (1m16.276s, C5) third.
The trio were separated by just the 0.080s margin in the end. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc (1m16.360s, C5) was fourth as Mercedes’s Lewis Hamilton (1m16.410s, C5) returned to the track after troubles on Day 2 to be fifth in the morning session.
Renault’s Esteban Ocon (1m16.433s, C5) lined-up in sixth after taking over from Ricciardo in the afternoon with Racing Point’s Sergio Perez (1m16.634s, C5) seventh ahead of McLaren’s Carlos Sainz (1m16.820s, C4).
Williams’ George Russell (1m16.871s, C5) rounded out a solid testing for the team after their troubles in 2019 in eighth as AlphaTauri’s Daniil Kvyat (1m16.914s, C4) was ninth with Haas’ Romain Grosjean (1m17.037s, C4) in 10th.
Alfa Romeo Racing ended their test early after completing its full programme with Kimi Raikkonen (1m17.415s, C5) in 11th as Haas’ Kevin Magnussen (1m17.495s, C4) was 12th, while Red Bull’s Alexander Albon (1m17.803s, C3) rounded out the 13 drivers.
