The FIA World Endurance Championship and the Le Mans 24 Hours winning Porsche 919 Hybrid’s Evo version has broken another lap record on Friday.

Driving the upgraded 2017 LMP1 car with several modifications, two-time Le Mans winner Timo Bernhard took the challenge to dip under the five minutes bracket to break the 35-years long record – also set on a Porsche.

Bernhard clocked the Nuburbring-Nordschleife at 5m19.546s, thrashing the 6m11.13s laptime set by Stefan Bellof on May 28, 1983 in a Porsche 956 C. Two months ago, Neel Jani had set the lap record at Spa-Francorchamps in the same car.
