George Russell won second race in FIA Formula 3 Europe Spa-Francorchamps’ round. British driver recovered to the lead after Eriksson took it from him in first turn. Jensen completes podium.
After crazy rainy day this morning, sun shone again in Spa-Francorchamps this afternoon for a completely dry and uninterrupted race.
When formation lap was underway Ben Barnicoat (HitechGP), who was fifth in the grid, got stuck and had to be pushed to the pit-lane. When lights where off, Eriksson (Motopark) took first position to poleman Russell (HitechGP),, who stayed in second place just in front of Jensen (kftzeile24 Mücke Motorsport),, who had also passed Callum Ilott (Van Amersfoort Racing).. British also later lost another position to his teammate Antoine Hubert.
At first lap Beckmann (kftzeile24 Mücke Motorsport) and this morning’s winner Stroll (Prema Powerteam) had to stop for repairs after touching. The Canadian did not come back to track and had to retire. To retirement list also joined Mazepin (HitechGP),, who reported a loss of power.
Ben Barnicoat, despite having started from last position, did a great recovery, fighting for positions and finally ending in eleventh. In front, Russell was following Eriksson insistently and away from third Jensen, until he got to the lead and pulled away by ensuring the victory.
Next and last race this weekend will take place tomorrow morning.
