Nico Rosberg set the fastest time before the qualifying session for the Hungarian GP ahead of the Red Bulls of Verstappen and Ricciardo.
The first half of the session was dominated by Rosberg, pretty comfortably until Ricciardo set a lap less than 2 tenths behind the Mercedes driver. Meanwhile, Hamilton was testing with a higher fuel load in order to compensate for the time he lost yesterday, although he had some issues with his seat and had to replace it. Räikkönen was 3rd ahead of Verstappen, Vettel, Hamilton, Bottas, Massa, Palmer and Alonso.
Rosberg improved his time by 3 tenths and ended the session first. His advantage, however, wasn’t big at all. Verstappen was 2nd only 0,002s behind the powerful Mercedes. Ricciardo confirmed Red Bull’s good pace with P3 ahead of Hamilton. Räikkönen and Vettel were right behind, while Alonso, Bottas, Pérez and Palmer completed the top 10.
