Esteban Ocon, driver for the Haas F1 Team, has stated that he has “nothing to announce yet” regarding his continuity in Formula 1 following a very difficult start to the season. So far, Ocon has only managed to score three points in the first ten races of the 2026 season, amidst numerous difficulties with his car, the VF-26.
This problematic season is a reflection of his inconsistent form in 2025, where he finished in 15th place in the championship, falling behind his young teammate, Oliver Bearman. Ocon’s contract expires at the end of 2026, and his seat for 2027 is uncertain, while Haas is considering potential drivers like Leonardo Fornaroli or Rafael Camara as possible teammates for Bearman.
Before the Hungarian Grand Prix, which will mark the end of the first half of the season, Ocon acknowledged that the summer break will be crucial for his career. “For now, we are focusing on this race and we will see what happens,” said the 29-year-old driver. Ocon emphasized the need to communicate with the team, with whom he has worked for the last two years.
Since his move to Haas from Alpine, Ocon has faced difficulties in achieving the expected results. Despite being the first driver of the team to win a race, his competition with Bearman has been noticeable. He has only scored points in two GPs (Japan and Monegros), marking the most challenging start to his F1 career since his debut in 2016.
When asked about his season so far, Ocon expressed that he does not feel frustration, but he acknowledges that there have been too many complications that have prevented optimal performance: “Probably, it’s the hardest first semester I’ve had,” he added. “We are working hard to improve things, not just for me, but for the whole team.”
