Shane van Gisbergen continues to amaze with his progress in NASCAR’s oval races, a championship in which his star shines brightly. The Trackhouse Racing driver has achieved a new personal record by leading 49 laps during the last competition, surpassing his previous mark of 12 laps in oval.
After achieving a Top 10 and then a Top 5 in his previous races, van Gisbergen came close to winning his first oval stage this past weekend at North Wilkesboro. At a key moment in the race, he passed Denny Hamlin during the restart of the first stage, expressing over the radio with a humorous remark: ‘I’m leading, what do I do now?’. The team’s response was a simple: ‘Well, go ahead!’.
