The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider, Pedro Acosta, has decided to rate his performance during the first half of the 2026 MotoGP season, assigning himself a score of 7/10. This first segment of the competition has been more satisfying for him compared to the previous season, which he considered ‘misfortunate’.
Despite the impressive rise of Aprilia and the recovery of Ducati, Acosta has remained competitive, with a win in sprint races and three podiums on Sundays during the first 11 rounds. Currently, he occupies the seventh position in the overall standings, just 60 points behind the championship leader, Jorge Martin.
Acosta acknowledged that three retirements due to technical issues and physical condition matters have influenced his rating. However, he is pleased with his performance on the bike so far. ‘For the first time, I give myself a high number. I would say seven for my performance,’ he commented.
Analyzing his performance, he added: ‘If we consider what has happened in the first laps of each race, I would say a four. We have had many technical problems that made me lose points in Barcelona, Brno, and Assen.’
Entering this new stage, he has matured both on and off the track. Although Enea Bastianini has tried to challenge him within the KTM team, Acosta remains the benchmark for the brand, accumulating nearly as many points as the rest of the riders on his team.
While showing caution about his chances of fighting for the title in the second half of the season, he remarked: ‘I haven’t made many mistakes compared to last year, so we will see if during the summer break we can identify and resolve these technical problems.’
Moreover, it is worth noting that this season will be Acosta’s last with KTM, as he has signed a contract to join Marc Márquez at Ducati from next year, seeking a more competitive bike.
