The big play of the race occurred on lap 42. O’Ward had been following his teammate, Christian Lundgaard, throughout the weekend, both driving at a very similar pace. When Lundgaard made a mistake in turn 2, O’Ward did not hesitate.
“I positioned myself to capitalize on any opportunity when he made a mistake,” O’Ward commented. “I trusted he would make one, and he did. That provided me the opportunity, and I took it. It’s always more fun to achieve it on the track than in a pit sequence.”
