Theophile Nael has demonstrated his superiority in the FIA Formula 3 championship, achieving pole position at the Monaco circuit. The French driver from Campos Racing has clocked a time of 1m24.471s, surpassing Brando Badoer by just 0.141 seconds.
The qualifying session, divided into two groups, saw Nael shine in group B, while Badoer, from Rodin Motorsport, dominated group A with a time of 1m24.612s. Ugo Ugochukwu, Nael’s teammate, was the first to set a competitive time in group A, although he was quickly surpassed by Noah Stromsted from Trident.
In the first minutes, Taito Kato from ART Grand Prix achieved the best time with 1m25.988s, being the first to go below 1.25. However, Ugochukwu improved his lap, temporarily putting himself ahead before Badoer reclaimed the top spot with his 1m24.612s.
In the final moments of the session, Tuukka Taponen from MP Motorsport recorded a notable lap, but it was Nael who regained leadership with an impressive time of 1m24.471s, thus securing pole position.
Nael, who had also stood out in the practice session, exceeded expectations after completing an initial lap of 1m25.729s. Polish driver Maciej Gladysz and later Freddie Slater from Trident made unsuccessful attempts to surpass Nael, only to end up technically surpassed in their final lap.
Additionally, Ernesto Rivera from Campos Racing, who is debuting in F3 after an injury, placed third in group qualification with Alessandro Giusti and Pedro Clerot completing the top five positions.
With this performance, Nael will start from the front row of the main race on Sunday, alongside Badoer, while Slater and Ugochukwu will form the second row. The level of competition is high, and everything indicates that the race promises to be exciting.
