Tymek Kucharczyk has celebrated his first victory in the Indy Nxt competition, managing to keep Max Taylor at bay throughout the race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway circuit.
From the beginning, Taylor did not stop pressing, but the HMD Motorsports driver showed great determination to maintain the lead, thus becoming the second debut winner of the weekend, after his teammate, Enzo Fittipaldi, won the first race.
Kucharczyk took the lead on the first lap while Taylor fought alongside his teammate, Josh Pierson, who was forced off the track, leaving Taylor in second place. The two drivers quickly started to pull away from the rest of the group and soon engaged in an intense battle.
Although Taylor attempted to overtake Kucharczyk several times, the latter always managed to stay ahead. Midway through the race, a wheel lock caused Kucharczyk to experience tire wear, but he managed to withstand Taylor’s final attacks, who crossed the finish line just 0.6273 seconds behind.
Behind the top two, the fight for third place was also intense. Enzo Fittipaldi, who had held third place on the first lap, found himself embroiled in a competition with Alessandro de Tullio and Lochie Hughes. Hughes took advantage of a mistake from de Tullio to pass him but could not do the same with Fittipaldi, who finished the race with a lead of 0.3778 seconds.
Alessandro de Tullio finished fifth, followed by Nikita Johnson, who had to defend against Pierson for much of the race. Pierson, after briefly going ahead, made a lock-up that cost him positions. The last points positions were taken by Matteo Nannini, Josh Pierson, Seb Murray, and Salvador de Alba.
