Pedro Acosta, a young MotoGP star, has declared his intention to continue competing with motorcycles until he is 35 years old, rejecting the idea of retiring prematurely from competition.
This rider, who made his debut in the top category at just 19 years old in 2024, has proven to be one of the standout names in the championship, accumulating two world titles in Moto3 and Moto2 before making the leap to MotoGP.
His trajectory has been compared to that of Max Verstappen, who also entered Formula 1 at a young age and has achieved significant records. However, unlike Verstappen, who has expressed that he does not intend to continue in F1 until advanced ages, Acosta is optimistic about his future in MotoGP.
“It’s hard to say, as Max has already won everything he wanted at a very young age. We are not at the same moment in our careers,” Acosta indicated. Additionally, he added that he would like to explore other options, such as endurance racing, during his career.
MotoGP riders often stop before F1 drivers, and 35 years is considered a natural limit for retirement in a discipline marked by injuries. Acosta, who turns 22 this year, will join the factory team of Ducati in 2026, alongside the legendary Marc Márquez.
Regarding Giacomo Agostini’s record of 15 world titles, Acosta expressed his desire to extend his career and joked that after his retirement he won’t know what to do with his life. “If I win 13 more, I must be 35 years old. I believe that, beyond 35, I will continue to have a career,” he stated.
