Following the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix, Formula 1 teams have been forced to face a five-week break. This halt, caused by a conflict in the Middle East region, has left fans with many questions, but teams are continuing to work intensively on their updates.
Ferrari, in particular, is focusing on preparations for the Miami Grand Prix and the new FIA regulations expected for 2026. We learned this in a conversation with Loic Serra, technical director of Ferrari’s chassis, who explained to us how this break affects vehicle development.
Serra noted that their development planning is long-term and that, therefore, the lack of races has not significantly altered their objectives. “Our evolution does not depend on one or two race weekends”, he stated, emphasizing that, despite the break, work continued as planned.
Regarding updates, Serra indicated that it is more favorable to wait to conduct thorough testing at the Miami circuit, rather than rushing to bring incomplete updates to Bahrain. “The most important thing is the quality of our developments”, he added, reflecting on the lessons learned during the previous months.
The data correlation between the simulator and the track has been temporarily affected by the stoppage, as he acknowledged. Nevertheless, the team can still analyze the accumulated information and take advantage of the extra time to improve their knowledge about the vehicle and the tires.
Serra concluded that their strategy would not be altered by the absence of races and that they would continue with their initial plan as they seek to improve performance in all areas of their car. The goal is to ensure that every small change is properly coordinated to maximize results on the track.
In light of this situation, Ferrari is committed to continuing to work on every aspect of their vehicle to return stronger than ever to the next competition.
