The Danish driver Christian Lundgaard faces the challenge of improving his performances in qualifying during the weekend at Barber Motorsports Park. Although his race pace has been satisfactory, qualifying has become a weak point in his season start.

In the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, Lundgaard started in twelfth position and managed to finish third. The following week, he advanced four places after starting from seventeenth position at Phoenix Raceway. However, in the last race in Arlington, he fell victim to the traffic of drivers and ended up spinning after contacting another vehicle, finishing seventh after starting from eighteenth place.

In the first practice session on the 2.3-mile, 17-turn layout, Lundgaard placed as the fourth fastest, just 0.0539 seconds off the leader, Scott McLaughlin. Thus, the Dane sets his aim to qualify for the Firestone Fast Six.

“The focus for car number 7 this weekend is just a good execution,” Lundgaard declared, who finished second at Barber last year. “I don’t think we need to find a great pace, but we must know how to execute correctly.”

Although he has shown optimism, Lundgaard has expressed concerns regarding his speed with hard compound tires compared to the softer ones, which proved to be the fastest during the session. “We were only fast with the alternates, and not with the primaries. That’s what worries me,” he added.

With seven finishes in the top ten since joining Arrow McLaren before the 2025 season, Lundgaard seeks his first victory with the team. Unlike his teammate Pato O’Ward, who has maintained consistency in races, Lundgaard is determined to fight to be the first to cross the finish line this time.

“I promise we are not looking for a fourth or fifth place. These points are good, but our goal is to win every race,” Lundgaard concluded, reaffirming his ambition in the competition.
