Oscar Piastri responds to the social media share which caused a bit of a stir, as Williams F1 drivers go to BattleBots event.
After his previous repost on Instagram, McLaren’s Piastri found himself in hot bubble once again after a latest one on Friday night in the ongoing Las Vegas GP weekend. The Australian utilised the repost option to share an opinion which damages his relation with the team.
This time he reposted a statement from Bernie Ecclestone, who highlighted McLaren’s favouritism towards Lando Norris being a British F1 team. This is the notion which has been ongoing on social media for most part of the current season, especially due to them fighting for the world championship.
Off-late, Norris has picked up his pace while Piastri has struggled and lost his lead. The Las Vegas qualifying added to his misery after the Brit took pole and the Australian was only fifth. But overnight, the social media repost caused a bit of a stir, which he had to clarify.
Piastri stated that he was unaware of the repost and only got to know when he woke up. He accepted that he may have done it accidently and not putting it on his team, who co-handle it. “I don’t know,” he said to media. “I woke up this morning and saw it. So, I don’t know. Maybe I accidentally did it.
“Obviously, it was not intentional. But yeah, I didn’t know what had happened. So, I don’t know,” summed up Piastri. It comes at a time when McLaren is trying hard to keep it fair between the two title rivals and amid bias blame put on the F1 team and the management.
