The FIA has cleared nine F1 teams and all the power unit manufacturers after completing the Cost Cap auditing for 2024, with Aston Martin in the breach list.
Since the start of Cost Cap in 2021, there hasn’t been a major breach apart from Red Bull, who had their wind tunnel time cut for the following year in 2022. Multiple teams and power unit manufacturers have faced procedural breach, but have complied with the FIA to rectify it.
It is the same now after the completion of Cost Cap auditing of 2024 season. Nine F1 teams are in all clear along with all of the power unit manufacturers, apart from Aston Martin, who were found to have breached on the procedural side post the review undertaken by the FIA.
The governing body addressed the delay in publishing the findings amid rumours of larger breach involving multiple teams. In the lead-up to last weekend’s Mexico GP, Aston Martin confirmed a procedural breach on their end, while reports linked other teams as well.
Some of the reports put up McLaren and Mercedes on that list, but the FIA has now confirmed that only Aston Martin breached 2024’s Cost Cap. This is second time for the Silverstone-based F1 outfit after facing the same in 2021, when the procedure was implemented.
The summary noted that Aston Martin failed to provide signed audited financial statements, which delayed the deadline. As a result, the F1 team has been ordered to pay up the cost incurred for Accepted Breach Agreement and the process due to the breach.

Here’s the FIA summary –
The review of the Reporting Documentation was a very thorough and intensive process spanning seven months. FIA confirms that the review process is particularly time consuming considering both the complexities of the Financial Regulations and the necessity to assess technical aspects (and related cost treatment) of activities of development undertaken by F1 Teams and PU Manufacturers. The FIA confirms that all F1 Teams and all PU Manufacturers gave their full support in providing the required information. The CCA notes that all F1 Teams and all PU Manufacturers acted at all times in a spirit of good faith and co-operation throughout the process.
The review findings are as follows – F1 Teams review process results:
- 9 F1 Teams found in compliance for 2024, and Procedural Breach identified for AMR GP Ltd (AMR).
- The CCA confirms that although AMR has been found to be in Procedural Breach, it has not exceeded the Cost Cap level, and that the Procedural Breach was of a very minor nature, originated by unpredictable circumstances outside the control of the F1 Team. AMR and FIA have entered an ABA on 29 September 2025 to resolve the matter.
PU Manufacturers review process results:
- All 5 PU Manufacturers found in compliance for 2024.
