Aston Martin, McLaren and Williams shared special one-off liveries for US GP to mark half the grid to be running different colours for the F1 race weekend.
The Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team and title partner Aramco today revealed the first bespoke design in the team’s history: a science-inspired, special one-off livery which will feature on the AMR25 during the United States Grand Prix in Austin this weekend.
The livery will take the normally invisible science of a Formula One car and make it visible through a design which includes a series of F1-related scientific formulas. The concept aims to bring to life on track the innovations behind the partnership, and shine a light on the talented people who work to make it possible.
The livery was first unveiled to Aramco’s employees at their USA HQ in Houston by Aston Martin Aramco driver and two-time F1 world champion Fernando Alonso, and Young Driver Jak Crawford. Delivering on the partnership’s objective to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders, the Aramco STEM Challenge 2025 was launched last week. The competition aims to give the next generation of STEM professionals the chance to complete a series of challenges and compete for the chance to win a life-changing placement at the AMR Technology Campus in Silverstone. Engineering students around the world between the ages of 18-25 can enter the competition here.
As Formula One heads closer to the new 2026 regulations – which see the sport adopting FIA-compliant 100% sustainable fuels as a ‘drop-in’ solution that can be used in existing engines with few modifications – the United States Grand Prix marks an exciting new phase in the partnership. Aramco, already the exclusive supplier of lower-carbon fuels to Formula 2, Formula 3, and F1 ACADEMY, has used its extensive expertise to help develop the new Aramco ProForce+ FIA-compliant 100% sustainable fuel in collaboration with the team.
Andy Cowell, Team Principal and CEO, Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team: “This US GP weekend marks the team’s first livery takeover with our title partner, Aramco. Together, we are highlighting science, innovation, and the people who bring the car to life. We’re excited to see the livery on track and proud to showcase the next phase of our partnership, with Aramco set to play an integral role for our race car in 2026.”
Ali A. Al-Meshari, SVP Technology Oversight and Coordination, Aramco: “This historic moment is an opportunity to celebrate the dedication of the people at Aramco who are developing advanced innovative technologies for use in motorsport and the wider automotive industry. For more than 90 years, Aramco has combined imagination, science and engineering to solve challenges people thought were impossible. Through our partnership with Aston Martin, we are testing innovative new fuels and materials that could help advance transportation on and off the race track. These exciting efforts will be on display at the 2025 United States Grand Prix.”

McLaren –
McLaren Racing are excited to reveal an iridescent livery enhancement, created in collaboration with Google Gemini, that will be run on our Formula 1 challenger at the 2025 United States and Mexico City Grands Prix. In addition to featuring on the MCL39 across the United States and Mexico City Grands Prix weekends, the unique Google Gemini-inspired livery will also be represented on both drivers’ overalls and boots.
The livery was launched digitally across the McLaren and Google Gemini channels on Wednesday and will be shown in person for the first time at our fan-focused event, McLaren Racing Live: Zone Studio. This free and un-ticketed immersive fan experience, held in collaboration with Google Gemini and Dell Technologies, will take place from Thursday to Saturday in downtown Austin, and feature activations from Mastercard, eBay and Okta.
The iridescent livery is inspired by the sparkle of Gemini’s colour palette and aims to highlight Gemini’s role as a personal, proactive and powerful assistant to unlock creativity and to inspire and guide its users in everyday lives. The livery and fan experience make up a part of McLaren’s Never Stop Racing campaign, and look to channel the feeling of being ‘In the Zone’. McLaren has previously run livery enhancements with Google Chrome at the British Grand Prix in 2023 and 2025 and the US Grand Prix in 2024.

Williams –
Williams will race in a 2002-inspired throwback livery at this weekend’s United States GP in celebration of the team’s title partnership with Atlassian. The livery is a visual representation of how both Williams and Atlassian have survived and thrived in the face of relentless change since 2002 through harnessing the power of teamwork – and how both are determined to return the team to glory by pushing forward, together.
The one-off special design, unveiled by Carlos Sainz alongside Atlassian Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Mike Cannon-Brookes and 2002 Williams driver Juan Pablo Montoya, commemorates the year Atlassian was founded and showcases the shared histories and values of two teamwork powerhouses. Co-founders Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar launched Atlassian with an idea and a $10,000 credit card debt, growing the company into the world’s leading provider of collaboration software used by more than 300,000 customers across the globe through relentless innovation and determination.
Williams was similarly founded by the legendary Sir Frank Williams and Sir Patrick Head in 1977, battling early financial challenges to become one of the top-three most successful F1 teams of all time with 114 wins, nine Constructors’ World Championships and seven Drivers’ World Championships through pushing the boundaries of technology and unerring resilience. The two organisations joined forces at the start of the year to accelerate Williams’ mission to return to the front of the grid.
The team is using Atlassian’s products and System of Work, a deliberate approach to teamwork that emphasises connecting all teams and leveraging AI to maximise impact and innovation, to help unleash its full potential and deliver on-track performance. Examples include:
- Prioritising the most important engineering projects according to the lap time they will deliver using Jira Product Discovery.
- Sourcing key data and insights from across the team using Rovo.
- Supporting staff with on-demand how-to learning for the most complex processes with Loom videos.
- Improving and accelerating machine repairs using Jira Asset Management
Williams is enjoying its best season since 2016, sitting fifth in the Constructors’ Championship, as the team continues with its comeback plan. This weekend’s livery, unveiled at a special event at the Lone Star Ranch in Austin, was inspired by the striking blue and white colour scheme of the FW24 which battled the dominant Ferrari but ultimately finished 2nd in the 2002 title race.
At the hands of Juan Pablo Montoya it set what was then the fastest lap of any circuit in F1 history, setting pole position at Monza for the Italian GP with an average speed of 161.449mph (259.827km/h). It was also the only car other than Ferrari to win a race in 2002, driven to victory by Ralf Schumacher at the Malaysian GP
Mike Cannon-Brookes, CEO, Atlassian: “Atlassian and Williams were both founded on Teamwork. Our beginnings were similar – two mates with big ideas and a hell of a lot of passion, ready to do something big. So we’re thrilled that Atlassian can now partner with Williams as they drive towards a new era of greatness, using technology to help power their move up the grid. This 2002-inspired livery celebrates both teams’ legacy and the bright future ahead for Atlassian Williams Racing.”
Juan Pablo Montoya: “It is incredible to think about how much has changed in F1 since 2002 but the key ingredients for success have remained the same: teamwork, innovation and a relentless determination to succeed. Williams has always stood for these values and it is clear that in Atlassian they have a partner that shares them. The throwback livery on the car looks amazing and is a great way to celebrate the partnership with Atlassian and the team’s ambition to return to the top step of the podium.”
Carlos Sainz, Atlassian Williams Racing: “The FW47 looks incredible in this 2002 retro livery which I am sure will be a fan favourite and I can’t wait to drive it at Austin this weekend. I have seen first hand how Atlassian’s software and approach to teamwork is helping move the team forward, and I am excited about what the future holds.”
