Lando Norris returned to the cockpit to top FP2 in F1 Austrian GP, ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri as Max Verstappen ended up third.
It was not as sunny as predicted in FP2 of F1 Austrian GP at Red Bull Ring. The offs continued for some of the drivers like Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg and Mercedes’ Andrea Kimi Antonelli. They managed to continue as did Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who had his first chance in the day.
He had a wide moment early on and followed it up with a gravel moment, but managed to continue on without much trouble. There was couple of potential impeding moments for Antonelli and McLaren’s Lando Norris from Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, respectively.
Both Antonelli and Norris had to take the left side at Turn 9-10 and Turn 3-4 in their moments. The Brit set the best time, though, to lead the way after a 1m04.580s lap time in FP2 of F1 Austrian GP. He had Oscar Piastri in second, with Verstappen ending up third after a late improvement.
He dropped Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll to fourth, with Leclerc in fifth ahead of Mercedes’ George Russell. In a better show, Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda was seventh as Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto and Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso continued their good run in eighth and ninth, respectively.
Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton rounded out the Top 10 ahead of Antonelli. The pair of Visa Cash App RB of Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar slotted in 12th and 13th. The Kiwi had a bit of a tough start after an issue with the steering wheel, which needed to be replaced to continue on.
Alpine’s Pierre Gasly was only 14th after complaining about a damaged car late in the session. Haas has a better run in 15th via Esteban Ocon, with teammate Oliver Bearman in 18th behind the Williams pair of Alexander Albon and Carlos Sainz, with Hulkenberg 19th and Alpine’s Franco Colapinto 20th.
