Visa Cash App RB has announced the departure of Jody Egginton to Red Bull Advanced Technologies from April onward, with the F1 team to replace him internally.

Having been part of various F1 teams in the past, Egginton joined the Faenza-based outfit in 2014 and was promoted to the level of Technical Director in 2019. After four years in the job, Visa Cash App RB has announced his departure to take up a role at Red Bull Advanced Engineering.

He will start his Engineering Director role from April 1 onward. Instead of hiring someone from the outside, Visa Cash App RB has announced internal shuffle to divide the work of technical director. It will be a three-member job instead of one head looking at the overall performance.

The team’s Chief Technical Officer Tim Goss will cover his work with the able support of the Deputy Technical Directors, Guillaume Cattelani (Car Performance) and Andrea Landi (Car Design). The team also has Alan Permane as its Chief Race Engineer to support the team trackside.

“Being part of this team for over 10 years has been a fantastic experience for me, providing some very memorable moments,” said Egginton. “But after almost 20 years of focussing solely on Formula One, I feel it’s time for a change. I will have a great remit as Engineering Director of Red Bull Advanced Technologies and the company currently has an exciting list of projects, so I can’t wait to get started on this new challenge.”

Team Principal Laurent Mekies added: “As our long-serving Technical Director, he has been instrumental in driving innovation and fostering team growth. I want to thank Jody for his expertise and the important contribution he has made to the team and the company’s upward trajectory. We wish him all the best for this new challenge within the Red Bull family.”
