Aston Martin announces re-structuring of its F1 team where Andy Cowell will be team principal with Mike Krack alongside him in a new role.
In a slight change in the structure, Aston Martin firmed Cowell in the role of the F1 team principal alongside his work of being the CEO as taken over from Martin Whitmarsh. The team is dividing the trackside and campus-based heads to simplify and clarify the roles given.
With Cowell taking over as F1 team principal, Krack will remain in the trackside work by becoming Chief Trackside Officer, whose focus will be improving the performance of the car at the track. As already known, Dan Fallows moved away from the technical team in 2024.
His role is more or less taken up by Enrico Cardile, who joins Aston Martin after spending years at Ferrari. He will assume the role of Chief Technical Officer and will oversee ‘architecture, design and build of new race cars’, waiting to team-up with Adrian Newey – who is likely to join in March.
With Cowell and Krack spearheading trackside work, Tom McCullough will move to a different role of helping Aston Martin in expansion of the teams’ broader range of racing categories. Thereby, he will move away from trackside work on F1 side, but will still be a leadership position.
“I have spent the last three months understanding and assessing our performance, and I’ve been incredibly impressed by the dedication, commitment and hard work of this team,” said Cowell.
“With the completion of the AMR Technology Campus and our transition in 2026 to a full works team, alongside our strategic partners Honda and Aramco, we are on a journey to becoming a Championship-winning team. These organisational changes are a natural evolution of the multi-year plans that we have scheduled to make and I’m incredibly excited about the future.”
