George Russell kept Mercedes on top in FP3 of F1 Las Vegas GP ahead of Oscar Piastri and Carlos Sainz in the Top 3.

The drivers didn’t rush as much in FP3 of F1 Las Vegas GP especially at the start of it. But as the session progressed, they started to run as much to collect data for qualifying and the race despite the colder conditions and lack of grip levels.

There were moments again for drivers in the session, missing the braking points, but they largely stayed away from the barriers. The one red flag towards the end of the session was for Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll, who stopped at the side of the track.

The marshals couldn’t touch his car for a few minutes due to a red light on the roll hoop due to a potential electrical issue. This hampered few drivers on their fast lap in the last part of the session, but not Mercedes’ George Russell in the end.

He led the way in FP3 of F1 Las Vegas GP weekend to keep Mercedes on top with a 1m33.570s lap ahead of McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, as McLaren’s Lando Norris was fourth from Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in the Top 5.

The Dutchman did not enjoy much at the start where Red Bull elected to run the medium tyres, but felt better on the soft compound. Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton was sixth after not completing a lap, with Williams’ Alexander Albon recovering to seventh.

He had teammate Franco Colapinto in eighth with Haas’ Kevin Magnussen ninth and Alpine’s Pierre Gasly 10th. The other Haas of Nico Hulkenberg was 11th from Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who was another driver to miss out due to the red flag.

Red Bull’s Sergio Perez was 13th after getting his quick lap in before the red flag, as Alpine’s Esteban Ocon was 14th ahead of the lead Aston Martin, Visa Cash App RB and Kick Sauber cars of Fernando Alonso, Yuki Tsunoda and Valtteri Bottas.

They were followed by their teammates Liam Lawson, Stroll and Zhou Guanyu, where the Canadian driver was on a fast lap when he was forced to stop. Post-session, there was a bit of moment between the Visa Cash App RB pair, but all was fine.
