Mitch Evans was fastest to end Formula E pre-season test in Madrid, as Abbi Pulling ended up on top in the Women’s test run.

Test Session 6 –

Thousands of kilometres and gigabytes of data in the bank. The fastest driver of the week? Mitch Evans, but testing – as we know – is about more than just outright speed. We’ve seen thousands of laps and kilometres completed across the field this week in Madrid across six sessions as Formula E’s 22 drivers got to grips with the new GEN3 Evo.

It was the first and only chance for the grid ton get together ahead of Season 11 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, at Madrid’s Jarama Circuit – ahead of the opener in Sao Paulo in December. Times as we know aren’t everything – especially with a new car to think about. Drivers and teams have worked hard to make sure their setups are down, and their data matches what they’ve seen in the simulator –  reliability too is a key focus as well as Hankook’s new iON tyres.

Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing) set the benchmark time of the week in the final session on a 1m27.4 with the Porsche powered Kiros up there again in Dan Ticktum and reigning champ Pascal Wehrlein (Porsche) third. Over the week, the 300kW running looked to favour Porsche-powered Andretti initially, though the American outfit has work to do unlocking pace at 350kW.

Women’s Test –

Formula E played host to the first-ever all-women test session for an FIA World Championship today at Circuito del Jarama in Madrid, with Abbi Pulling (Nissan) fastest in the afternoon. The three-hour session came as part of the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship’s pre-season testing schedule.

The first-of-its-kind test provided elite women racing drivers the opportunity to drive the new-for-Season 11 GEN3 Evo race car, which is capable of 0-60 mph in just 1.82 seconds – 30% faster than a current F1 car. Pulling, the current F1 Academy standings leader, steered to the quickest time in the three-hour session amid a field full of 18 drivers representing the top tier of motorsport.

The 21-year-old Brit dialled things in to pip early-session leaders, multiple W Series champion Jamie Chadwick and Formula E’s first woman points-scorer Simona de Silvestro. Chadwick, who was representing Jaguar TCS Racing in the test, came in second with McLaren Development Driver and F1 Academy racer Bianca Bustamante rounded out the top three.

For much of the field, it was the first time they had sampled any generation of Formula E car, with every driver getting in their very first laps in the GEN3 Evo. With all the women on track at the same time, the session creates a tangible platform for a wide pool of elite drivers who wouldn’t otherwise get an opportunity to drive machinery at this level. The test is aimed at providing not only with a destination but also a pathway to develop their careers and skills using current technology at its full potential.
