David Beckmann was fastest on Day 3 of Formula E pre-season test in Madrid ahead of Porsche drivers, as they complete their first race simulation.
Test Session 4 –
The times continue to fall as our grid get themselves more familiar with their GEN3 Evo machines. Kiro Race Co’s David Beckmann was the star of Thursday morning at the Jarama circuit, as he finished the session top of the timesheets with an impressive 1m27.755s lap. Despite only being signed on for the pre-season test at the newly-rebranded American team, both he and Dan Ticktum have looked quick over the four test sessions so far.
Beckmann was joined by both TAG Heuer Porsche drivers in the top three, with reigning champion Pascal Wehrlein in second and Antonio Felix da Costa in third. For Wehrlein, he was the first driver to break the 1m27s but shortly after his lap, the Kiro driver beat him by 0.008s to make it a Porsche and Becks at the top of the timings. DS PENSKE’s Maximilian Guenther continued his strong pace to finish in fourth, with Jake Hughes slotting into fifth.
The STELLANTIS powered cars have continued to look strong, after Hughes topped the second session in Madrid yesterday morning and Guenther going quickest in the afternoon. Mitch Evans in his Jaguar TCS Racing machine was sixth, with Norman Nato getting in some good laps to finish seventh. NEOM McLaren’s newest signing Taylor Barnard was eighth at the chequered flag with Oliver Rowland (Nissan) and Jean-Eric Vergne (DS PENSKE) completing the top 10.

Test Session 5 –
Nyck de Vries topped the times in the afternoon’s running, following a first race simulation for the full 22-car grid. Day three in Madrid at Jarama Circuit saw two more three-hour test sessions come and go, as well as a race sim in the afternoon. In the morning, David Beckmann steered his newly Porsche-powered Kiro to the top of the timing screens with the fastest lap we’ve seen of the GEN3 Evo era yet, while the two factory Porsches followed just behind.
Practice starts, with that new all-wheel drive, kicked off the afternoon before a run through of a full race distance with all 22 drivers taking part and Pascal Wehrlein heading the way come the end of the exercise. In the afternoon’s running, times didn’t quite hit the morning’s highs. Mahindra Racing’s Nyck de Vries topped the charts from Jaguar’s Mitch Evans, with teammate Edo Mortara for an encouraging win double.

The Tipo Folgore has a refreshed design and a new aesthetic that tells the story of 110 years of the Maserati marque’s victories and successes on the track. The name Maserati Tipo Folgore pays homage to the Trident’s full-electric range, symbolising a bridge between the past, present and the future. The livery, in the iconic Maserati blue colour, comes with Rose Gold accents on the rear as a symbol of innovation and electrification.
Maserati have designed the livery to evoke their sporting heritage. An interlocking of names and dates showcases the victories Maserati has collected over the years, thanks to legendary drivers and unforgettable successes on some of the most prestigious race circuits in the world.
Klaus Busse, Head of Design at Maserati, said: “It has been a great honour to work for the third year running on the livery design of our Formula E single-seater. This year’s aesthetics, while continuing to build on the brand’s journey of electrification symbolised by the Folgore copper colour, are intended to celebrate Maserati’s wealth of history in motorsport with a tribute to the milestones of 110 years of history, an anniversary we’ll be celebrating early next month. The names of those unforgettable champions, the circuits and the dates of the Grand Prix victories therefore appear around the driver’s cockpit and project them seamlessly into the future, thanks to our racing DNA.”
Cyril Blais, Team Principal, Maserati MSG Racing, said: “It continues to be an enormous honour for us to represent such an iconic automotive brand in Formula E. Racing with the now-unmistakable Maserati Tipo Folgore is a major responsibility. Maserati has a formidable pedigree on and off the racetrack and it was our privilege to return the Trident to the top step of the podium in Seasons 9 and 10. With this striking livery that bears witness to Maserati’s impressive motorsport history and the team’s success in the championship, we look forward to battling together towards more landmark victories in Season 11.”
