Francesco Bagnaia cuts MotoGP points lead after Indonesian GP sprint win after Jorge Martin’s fall, with Enea Bastianini in P2 from Marc Marquez.
It was a clean start for Pramac Ducati’s Jorge Martin in Indonesian GP sprint at Mandalika, as Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia climbed up up to second from GASGAS Tech 3’s Pedro Acosta and VR46 Ducati’s Marco Bezzecchi.
Another rider was Gresini Ducati’s Marc Marquez, who was fifth from 12th, ahead of Ducati’s Enea Bastianini, Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo, VR46’s Fabio di Giannantonio and Pramac’s Franco Morbidelli in the Top 9 points places in the sprint.
Not long before it settled, Martin had a moment at Turn 6 which handed Bagnaia the lead. The Spaniard dropped outside the points but continued, as the sole Trackhouse Aprilia of Raul Fernandez had a moment too and managed to continue on.
Honda’s Joan Mir, meanwhile, crashed out. As Bagnaia led on, Bezzecchi was up to second from Marquez who managed to clear Acosta. The Tech 3 rider lost out to Bastianini as well, to cause a traffic jam behind with a list of riders on the back.
It had Morbidelli, Quartararo, Vinales and di Giannantonio in the pack. There was a contact which dropped Quartararo off the pack in 11th, even behind LCR Honda’s Johann Zarco and KTM’s Jack Miller, with Martin not far behind in his recovery ride.
Bezzecchi, meanwhile, had a moment behind Bagnaia but managed to save it. He dropped to fourth behind Marquez and Bastianini, who had their own fight for second. The Italian pressed hard on the Spaniard and eventually went past him for second.
It was Bagnaia to cut Martin’s points lead after MotoGP sprint win in Indonesian GP by just the 0.107s margin in a photo finish from teammate Bastianini in a Ducati 1-2. Marquez was third from Bezzecchi, as Morbidelli got the better of Acosta in fifth.
Acosta managed to hold on to sixth from Vinales, Zarco and di Giannantonio to round out the Top 9 points finishers, as Martin eventually climbed up to 10th but had his points lead cut out. There was a late crash for Tech 3’s Augusto Fernandez.
