Pierre Gasly says Alpine isn’t to have any updates in the near future as they are asserting their plan ahead, but insists teamwork needed to score.

Having started off slowly, Alpine has made up some ground in F1 2024. From being last and getting knocked out in Q1, both Gasly and Esteban Ocon have made it in Q2 and even scored valuable points to leapfrog Williams in the standings.

While Visa Cash App RB seems to be slightly out of reach, the likes of Haas, Williams and even Stake F1 Team are the ones against whom Alpine can fight. In fact, the three points in Canada was crucial which allowed them to get past Williams.

While they are making some inroads, on the update side, they aren’t to bring anything significant as of now. Gasly notes that they are looking into streamlining updates and aiming for a bigger one later in the year to gain significantly.

“We won’t have any upgrades in the near future,” said Gasly. “We know the target is to have something a bit more significant at some stage in the year. I expect the next few races to be quite tough if it’s normal conditions, but this is Formula 1 and you always have chances at times.

“That’s why we’ve got to make sure we stay on top of it, and until we have the upgrades, just try to grab any opportunities that may arise,” summed up Gasly, who stressed on teamwork to extract as much. The recent race in Monaco and Canada saw some verbal battles between Alpine teammates, which the Frenchman wishes to avoid.

“At the end of the day, it was good teamwork in Canada,” said Gasly. “That’s what we need until the end of the year, because we know Williams seems to have a competitive car. Looking at the qualifying in Canada, it was quite impressive. Haas seems to have some good pace at times.

“We know on days like we saw in Canada, we’ve got to make the best out of what we have and we can’t afford to do any mistakes, can’t afford to take any unnecessary risks. It was well managed, and hopefully we’re going to continue like that until the end of the year,” summed up Gasly.
