Josep Maria Pepe Marti has become the new Red Bull Junior Team member ahead of the final FIA F3 round in Monza.
Marti has joined a long list of Red Bull Junior drivers for 2023 season as the F1 outfit continues to add young promising drivers in their ranks. The Spaniard gets support from the company while being already looked after by Fernando Alonso’s A14 management.
He had joined Alonso’s management company earlier this year and has had a solid second FIA F3 season with Campos Racing. Having scored just two points last year, Marti sits third in the drivers’ standings with the final round to go this weekend in Monza.
He is in with a title shot too even though it will be a very tough chance considering Gabriel Bortoleto has 39 points lead over Marti. The Spaniard has no margin at all to play with since it is only 39 points that a driver can score this weekend.
But the outside title chances hasn’t deterred Red Bull in hiring a promising driver in their ranks. Marti is the second F3 driver to join them after Sebastian Montoya with the F2 field having as many as six juniors currently with two rounds to go.
“Welcome to the team, Pepe Marti. Pepe is joining the Red Bull Junior Team and is set to showcase his new helmet during the F3 season finale this weekend in Monza,” said a short statement from Red Bull Junior Team.
