Pons Racing is delighted to announce that the team will be fielding Yu Kanamaru in the this weekend’s seventh round of the World Series 3.5 championship at the German Nurburgring circuit.
Making his debut in the series, the 21-year-old Japanese driver is taking part in the 2015 EuroFormula Open for the team directed by Emilio De Villota, who also serves as a Team Manager for Pons Racing. Kanamaru is currently third in the EuroFormula Open standings after ending up the 2014 season in fourth place.
“I know Kanamaru really well and we witnessed his growth race by race in the EuroFormula Open. The move to the Renault 3.5 championship is a natural progression for him, although it won’t be easy to line-up without an adequate testing program. On the other hand, I know that Yu has all the qualities needed to successfully approach a powerful and demanding car like the Dallara-Gibson”.
