Pietro Fittipaldi will fulfill Haas’ quota of FP1 running as per the new F1 regulation in Mexico and Abu Dhabi races.
Having last driven the Haas F1 car in Bahrain at the start of the 2022 season as a last-minute replacement to Nikita Mazepin, Fittipaldi will be back in the VF-22 to fulfill the team’s quote of the mandated FP1 runners as per the FIA regulation.
Having done two grands prix, Fittipaldi just makes it to the list to be eligible to complete the FP1 running. He will replace Kevin Magnussen in Mexico GP, while Mick Schumacher will make way for the Brazilian in the Abu Dhabi GP weekend.
Haas has chosen to stick with a familiar face in their ranks rather than opt for a rookie driver, who may have had his first F1 go. There’s no Ferrari face either, with Robert Shwartzman set to drive the Italian manufacturer’s car in the two sessions.
