A time of 1:31.050 saw the eDAMS driver post the fastest time of the day and beat Donnington’s lap record. Buemi, who finished runner-up in the inaugural season, set his time in the afternoon session on his fifteenth lap.
After setting the quickest lap yesterday, Buemi was on fine form in the qualifying simulations, blitzing Sam Bird’s time by 3 tenths. In terms of numbers of laps completed, Tom Dillmann was head and shoulders above the rest of the pack, with 64 laps in the day. Daniel Abt was the next closest, with 57 laps and the third fastest time of the day.
Dillmann’s first proper outing in Formula E machinery showed both speed and consistency in the Team Aguri car, which hasn’t had as many changes from the previous season’s car as the rest of the field. The number of laps set by Dillmann is a great help to Team Aguri and helps the Frenchman in his bid to land himself a seat for the 2015/2016 season.
At the other end of the spectrum, Trulli still failed to get out on track for the second day running. NEXTEV TCR also didn’t take to the circuit after having received damage to their motors in yesterday’s running.
As for Amlin Andretti, software issues blighting the team as a result of them developing their own powertrain and motor prevented Simona De Silvestro from completing one full lap. However the team hope that once all their systems are complimenting each other they’ll have the edge of the other marques, all of whom haven’t developed to the extent of Andretti.
Testing continues next Monday at Donnington.
