Robert Shwartzman ended up fastest overall to end the Abu Dhabi Test as Lando Norris was quickest on the 18-inches F1 compound.
After host of young drivers on track on Tuesday, the Wednesday running had only Shwartzman in the cockpit in the Haas with the Ferrari F1 academy driver setting the best time of 1m25.348s lap to end as the fastest overall.
He was only marginally quicker than McLaren’s Norris (1m25.809s) in the mule car, who was running the 18-inches tyres as opposed the 13-inches on the Russian’s car. Aston Martin’s Sebastian Vettel was third as the team managed to fix a hydraulic issue which forced him to stop on track earlier in the day to cause a red flag.
The German posted a late push lap in the day to push Mercedes’ George Russell to fourth as the completed his two days in the car with Lewis Hamilton not doing the F1 test. AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly was fifth from Alpine’s Fernando Alonso.
Having drive the 2021 F1 car on Tuesday, Guanyu Zhou got his first taste of the 18-inches tyres on Wednesday with Alfa Romeo, finishing eighth from Red Bull’s Sergio Perez and Haas’ Pietro Fittipaldi, who subbed for Nikita Mazepin.
