Stefan Bradl will be the first rider to ride the MotoGP bike in 2021, as the likes of Maverick Vinales and Johann Zarco set to ride road bikes.
With COVID-19 restrictions still on in various parts of the world, testing has been limited in motor racing arena, whether it is MotoGP or F1 or WEC and even WRC. Dorna Sports already announced the cancellation of the tests at Sepang in Malaysia.
Instead, they will get extra days in Qatar in March, ahead of the start of the 2021 season. But having not ridden since the end of November when the 2020 season ended, riders need track practice, whether it is on the MotoGP bikes and or even the road ones.
MotoGP rookie Jorge Martin had his first run in Pramac Racing colours at Circuito de Cartagena in South-East Spain, but it was abode the Ducati Panigale V4, as opposed to the Desmosedici. Tech 3 KTM’s Iker Lecuona was also present, riding a BMW road bike.
Much like Martin and Lecuona, the former’s teammate Zarco, Yamaha’s Vinales and Ducati test rider Michele Pirro, will be in action this week at Andalucian circuit abode their respective road machines. One other will get to ride the MotoGP bike, though.
Having competed in 2020 as a replacement to Marc Marquez, German rider Bradl will ride the Honda RC213V at Jerez, where he will use the Japanese manufacturer’s private test days for World Superbike series. Therefore, he will be the first on the MotoGP bike in 2021.
