It’s a mighty European season for Kart Republic. The Team seized the WSK European Series title after winning the OK and OKJ FIA Karting European Championship the week before.
The Team just ended a very demanding week in Lonato, where we raced for two WSK Euro Series rounds condensed in one unique weekend; the drivers showed good preparation and consistent speed throughout the days here in Lonato.
It’s Andrea Kimi Antonelli who, once again jumps on the OK series podium in P1; the young Italian is followed in P2 by Valtanen (from Team Pantano).
Brando Badoer closes this WSK series in P2 in OKJ, with Igor Cepil 3rd.
Nakamura (60 Mini) finished 2nd in the Series final rank, while Torsellini is 4th in KZ.
This weekend we focused on KZ, since we’re going to race the KZ World Championship on the same track next week. All drivers, Torsellini, Albanese and the Pex brothers, did a great job; a nice weekend from all of them! We missed podium by not much honestly, due to slight errors.
I think, today it’s hard to overtake in KZ; if you are behind group of drivers, it almost feels like the chassis lacks downforce due to the turbulence, which makes it hard to overtake; that’s what happened to Torsellini, who remained stuck, unable to overtake his opponents. We’ve seen this happen in almost all KZ races, with drivers really struggling to find space to overtake, like we see with Formula cars.
All good in OK; Antonelli won one race and seized the title, despite not being one of the favorites. Kimi was great and managed the final round perfectly! Also, Valtanen closed the Series in P2!
Not so happy about OKJ; Ugochukwu gained P1 in the Championship after RD2, but later he was hit hard while leading the RD3 pre-final; he wasn’t able to join RD3 Final because of that. Also, Badoer didn’t win the Series for just a bit, finishing P2 overall and followed by Cepil in P3, and Lindblad in P4. Spina won a Series he started with us before switching to another team; we wanted to see a KR on the top step of the podium also in OKJ, but I’m sincerely happy for Spina.
Good performance also for Nakamura Berta. The Japanese kid is a KR driver, currently managed by Team Driver; he won one race and finished the other one in P4, closing the Series in P2.
We’re now totally focused on the two World Championships; next one is KZ at Lonato.
It’s going to be tough but we think we can do a good job there!
