Marco Wittmann has taken pole position for the second race of the DTM at the Nurburgring. The German has beat the Mercedes of Paul Di Resta and Robert Wickens to get the 3 points of the preferred position.

Following the dominance of yesterday’s race, the Mercedes have again topped the time table of the last practice session of the weekend, with Lucas Auer setting a lap-time of 1:21.258, finishing in front of Gary Paffett and Robert Wickens.

In qualifying, in the early stages was Augusto Farfus (BMW) who set the pace followed by Paffett.

Halfway through, Timo Glock (BMW) was in the lead of the standings with a lap-time of 1:21.226. The German led ahead of Farfus, Paffett, Marco Wittmann (BMW) and Jamie Green (Audi).

After almost 4 minutes without activity on the track, the drivers were leaving the pits for one last attempt.

In this attempt the BMW and especially, Marco Wittmann would leave no option to their rivals. First, Tom Blomqvist (BMW) was the one who began improving the lap-time of Glock, but soon was beat by Wittmann.

With the checkered flag in the air, Paul Di Resta was in provisional pole position before Wittmann set the fastest time of the session with the time of 1:20.936.

In the second row of the starting grid will be the Mercedes of Wickens and Lucas Auer, followed by the BMW of Blomqvist and Glock.

Complete the top 10, Augusto Farfus, Gary Paffett, Bruno Spengler and Edoardo Mortara. The best Audi has been the one of Jamie Green that will start in eleventh position.
