Yamaha’s president, Lin Jarvis, showed his interest in the two Spanish riders who could ride for his team in the future.

As Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi’s contracts with the Japanese team come to an end after the 2016 season, and regarding the tensions between the two riders, we could see new faces in 2017 in the official Yamaha team.

According to Lin Jarvis, the candidates with most potential are Maverick Viñales and Alex Rins who both had a good 2015 season.

After a good first season with Suzuki in MotoGP of which he has been rookie of the year, Viñales caught Yamaha’s eye.

On the other hand, Rins achieved a great first season in Moto2, being runner-up, rookie champion and claiming two victories. Jarvis congratulated Rins’ decision to spend one more year in Moto2 and the Spanish rider places himself as a challenger for a Yamaha ride in 2017, either with the official team or with Tech3.
