7th driver confirmed for the 2018 season of Indy Lights. Juncos Racing has announced the 2nd driver for their team, of which only one vacancy remains for this campaign.

Victor Franzoni has been announced as the new driver of the American team, and in this way becomes the team-mate of the already confirmed Nicolas Dapero. The current champion of Pro Mazda will dispute his first year in the series, to try to get closer to his main goal: the IndyCar Series.

Franzoni has based his entire racing career in the United States. The young Brazilian began his first steps in America after leaving the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup towards the USF2000 National Championship with three seasons in Afterburner Autosport and ArmsUp Motorsports, with the 3rd final position with the latter.

The next step was Pro Mazda, where he started with M1 Racing without completing the entire season and with a couple of 4th places as best result. Finally, in 2017 he took the step to Juncos Racing and completely swept to achieve the championship with seven wins and five poles.

Juncos Racing has wanted to continue betting on the 22-year-old driver. Therefore, Franzoni has been very happy with the renewal and promotion to Indy Lights for this year. “I am so happy to be back with Juncos Racing. We had an amazing year last year and I could not have won the Pro Mazda championship without all of their support and hard work. I am confident we will be successful in the Indy Lights championship, said the Brazilian.

On the other hand, the head of the structure Juncos, Ricardo Juncos, was very satisfied with the continuity of Franzoni with the team. “I am so happy to have Victor with us for the 2018 season. I have always seen a lot of myself in him. At times, life puts you in very difficult situations and there are no other options than to succeed with zero margins of error. This kid knows a lot about this and he is willing to do whatever it takes to succeed and I absolutely love that”, he said.

In addition, according to the owner of the team, the one from Sao Paulo should be one of the contenders for the title. Despite being a rookie in the series, he has a lot of faith in his new driver. “I have no doubt that he will be a contender for the Indy Lights Championship. I have 100 percent confidence and trust in the crew behind Victor and look forward to the start of the season”, Juncos finished.
