Jean-Éric Vergne will start from the first position on the grid in his first ePrix. The former Formula 1 driver will be accompanied by Piquet in the first row, followed by the two e.DAMS.
Jean-Eric Vergne has not fared badly in his premiere in Formula E, . The French only touched an electric Formula car for the first time this morning, and soon after he took the pole position far ahead of his teammate.
The first practice session was dominated by Nicolas Prost from e.Dams, setting a time of 1: 16,696. At that session, Salvador Duran – who starts in the category with Super Aguri – was six seconds slower than the son of the four-time champion, but Vergne has been fighting against inexperience and was sixth in less than a second from Prost.
The second practice session finished with Jaime Alguersuari having the best time so far. With a 1: 15.9 the Catalan looked strong for the qualifying session that was about to begin.
But he would not do that great in qualy, thus he starts fifth, losing three tenths due to a touch in the wall at the end of the lap. The surprise was the first position of Jean-Éric Vergne. Piquet and Prost were second and third, and Buemi, on board of the E.DAMS, will occupy the second row. Alguersuari and Di Grassi will start from the third one.
The race will begin at 16:00 local time; 19:00 CET.
