The new project of the team will have its inaugural point on February 20, coinciding with the presentation of Renault.
Sauber and Alfa Romeo confirmed their union at an event last December, at the Alfa Museum. It was there where with a car from previous years showed the world the possible design that would be seen for the next season. The C37 of Sauber but, could change of aspect the next day 20 of February, date of the launch of the car of the next season.
The union of Alfa Romeo and Sauber opens the doors to the Swiss team to leave the last positions of the grid and try to fight to enter the points. To try to reach this goal they have Ferrari’s help. Alfa Romeo was not prepared to become an independent team in its first year in F1 and Ferrari provides them with their main engine of 2018, as well as other parts of the car as the design of the rear suspension.
Not only the team is renewed at the level of team and car but also has done in their pilots lineup. Marcus Ericsson, who has not scored a single point since 2015, will follow another year in the Swiss team which made his star signing in Charles Leclerc. The young driver of the Ferrari school and champion of the last edition of Formula 2, makes the leap to the top category. With a talent that few have, the French have the opportunity to start in a car that will surely improve the results of recent years. The couple has the pressure to be up to this new project and return Sauber to the path of points.
The presentation of the Sauber-Alfa Romeo will coincide with the Renault launch. The most advanced team will be the Williams, who next February 16 will see the light in a presentation where they still will not present the final car.
